The Incident
A 68-year-old man developed arthritis and pain in his hip, leading to surgery to implant a prosthetic hip. The “cup” portion of the hip (inserted into the pelvis and the acetabulum) became loose due to the failure of the “glue” that held it in place. The product was designed to use an adhesive glue to keep the cup in place rather than any screws or other hardware. However, these began to fail. The Plaintiff required a second procedure to remove the failed hip and implant a new device.
The Result - Our attorneys engaged the manufacturer in a mediation process and were able to settle the case privately.
